UK Becomes First G7 Nation to Sign Free Trade Deal with GCC
The UK and the Gulf Cooperation Council concluded a landmark free trade agreement on May 20, 2026, worth an estimated £3.7 billion annually. The deal, negotiated since June 2022, covers all six GCC states — Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE — and is expected to boost wages by £1.9 billion per year in the long run.
